A Beautiful Smile

Her sky isnt blue cause she's painted it yellow
See, she doesnt know how to say her name
Im searching her eyes for a sign of tomorrow
But she only knows how to live for today

Love passes her by leaving her only with sorrow
Lonely days followed by lonely nights
She does not ask why she was born to be alone
Questioning isnt in her sense

Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
That smile is brighter than the sun itself
Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
That smile dries up her tears everyday
Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
That smile can help you forget your pain
Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
You are so young, so sweet, so innocent

People keep running from the girl who wants nothing
They all keep thinking she might ask them for help
Yet she keeps on running to the people and wanting
To give them a hand she wants to offer them help

This world seems so crazy to the beautiful lady
Every step that she takes seems like another mistake
But she's not a lady to this world she's just crazy
And the steps that she's taken are all being erased

Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
That smile is brighter than the sun itself
Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
That smile dries up her tears everyday
Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
That smile can help you forget all your pain
Her smile, smile for me beautiful girl
You are so young, so kind, so innocent

This was written by me after I spent some time looking after a girl suffering from mental illness. The girl is fourteen years old and an grew up in an orphanage. She never spoke a word but smiled a great deal. Everytime she smiled I realized how this world and all her pain meant nothing to her, how she was going to live her life like the way she was, poor, sick, alone, and she had to accept that. She was forced to accept that by the situation. At the age of eleven, the girl was rapped and she fell pregnant. She now has a baby girl. The thing is though, she does not think that she has had a baby at all. The baby is growing up in an orphanage and will be given up for adoption. The child will never know her mum and the mum can't be expected to understand that she has a child. During the time I worked with the girl, she would always like to color. She would always color her sky yellow, and the ground red. The colors for everything else changed but her sky was always yellow and the ground red, that never changed and I will never understand why.
